Agfa Vista 200 on Fujifilm is a warm, red-forward Classic Negative recipe with a +4 Red / −3 Blue white-balance shift, Color +2 and Strong Color Chrome Effect, tuned for bright daylight where reds and greens punch and grain stays crunchy. It chases the cult UK drugstore stock — saturated for a consumer film, contrasty, and unmistakably red-leaning.

Why Classic Negative is the base

Classic Negative supplies the built-in consumer-negative contrast and shifted colour response that Agfa Vista is famous for, which is why it beats a Classic Chrome base here. The +4 Red WB shift pushes the whole frame toward Vista’s signature warmth, while Color Chrome Effect Strong thickens reds and greens so foliage and shopfronts read dense rather than pastel. Color +2 lifts overall saturation past the Kodak consumer looks.

How to shoot it

Shoot it in open daylight or bright overcast where DR200 can rein in highlights while Highlight +1 and Shadow +1 keep the contrast crisp and glassy. The Grain set to Strong / Large is deliberate — it gives the slightly crunchy, cheap-film texture that defines Vista scans, and Noise Reduction −2 lets that grain and edge detail stay honest. Sharpness +1 and Clarity +1 add just enough bite for street signage and painted metal without turning brittle. Keep exposure around +1/3 EV so warm midtones sit up rather than muddying.

What to avoid

Avoid mixed tungsten interiors at the full +4 Red shift — the warmth compounds and skin drifts orange. Pull Red back to +2 indoors, or drop to DR100 if the contrast collapses under flat artificial light. This is not a subtle skin-tone recipe: the Color +2 and Strong Color Chrome deliberately overshoot for that punchy consumer-negative feel, so for restrained portraiture reach for a Pro Neg or Astia recipe instead. Green foliage will lean lush and slightly yellow-warm, which is authentic to Vista but can look heavy on overcast landscapes — ease Color to +1 if greens feel synthetic.

The combination is intentionally loud: warm, saturated, and grainy in the way a £1 roll pushed through a high-street lab used to look. On X-Trans V bodies the Color Chrome Effect renders slightly cleaner than on IV sensors, so photographers wanting more grit can nudge Grain size and keep everything else as listed.

Any X-Trans IV or V body with Classic Negative — X100V, X100VI, X-T4, X-T5, X-Pro3, X-E4, X-S10/S20 and the X-T30 II. The X-T3 is excluded because it never received Classic Negative.

Classic Negative carries the punchy, slightly crunchy consumer-negative contrast and warm midtone bias that muted Classic Chrome lacks. Pushed with Color +2 and Color Chrome Effect Strong, it lands closer to Vista's saturated drugstore character.

Not in daylight. The +4 Red is balanced by −3 Blue and Classic Negative's own cool shadow bias, so skin reads warm and Vista-red rather than sunburnt. In heavy tungsten, dial Red back to +2.
